One of our clients, Robert Simpson of solicitors Thomas Simpson, has been given a Worldwide Excellence Award for his expertise in family inheritance and succession planning.
The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) gave the accolade to Robert in recognition of his achievement in gaining the highest mark of any candidate in the June 2018 Trust and Estate Accounting (England & Wales) Advanced Certificate exam.
Robert now holds a Diploma in Trusts and Estates (England & Wales). He has also been admitted as a full member of STEP which means he is internationally recognised as an expert in family inheritance and succession planning.
Robert, who is a director of Thomas Simpson Solicitors, said: ‘I started advising people on family inheritance because I was aware how often advice in this area is inaccurate or inadequate. I wanted to be able to provide the knowledge, experience and sensitivity required when advising on cross border estates, trusts and when acting for elderly clients.’
He continued: ‘I simply wanted to learn all I could. To have achieved the highest mark in my final exam is a wonderful bonus.’
The twice yearly Worldwide Excellence Awards were launched in June 2016 to celebrate the highest achievement in STEP qualifications globally. STEP members help families plan for their futures, from drafting wills to issues surrounding international families, protection of the vulnerable, family businesses and philanthropic giving.
