Could your company be the new Uber, Spotify, Instagram, Duolingo or Hootsuite? One thing all these huge businesses have in common is that they started in coworking offices.
Coworking is a new way of flexible working for one person businesses and freelancers that was conceived by Brad Neuberg in San Francisco. It allows you to benefit from working in an office while remaining flexible and controlling costs. If working at home or in a coffee shop isn’t working for you but an office is too big a commitment or too isolating, renting a permanent desk in a shared office space on a month-by-month basis could be the answer.
Coworkers enjoy the fact that an office environment has less distractions than working in their own home but is more permanent than a ‘hot desk’. There is a social side to coworking too. Coworkers often find working alongside like-minded entrepreneurs who face or have faced the same challenges to be inspirational and educational.
Networking goes hand-in-hand with coworking. Sometimes two individual businesspeople working on a project together take the opportunity to work in the same office. Sometimes strangers end up as collaborators.
Safe And Secure
Naturally, you might be worried about security when you’re working in an office with a stranger (hopefully soon to be a friend). At Hampshire Workspace, a member of our team is constantly available in Reception and at the end of an internal phone. To ensure that you find the shared office space harmonious and hassle free, all coworkers are expected to sign and conform to a Code of Conduct.
How does Coworking work?
Winchester Workspace is office space at Hampshire Workspace, which we have set aside where you can hire the same desk on a month-by-month basis, subject to availability. You can use our WiFi or benefit from cabled superfast broadband. As you’d expect, you have access to a kitchen with a fridge and microwave and toilets which are regularly inspected. There’s also a shower. Unlike many coworking offices, we provide a staffed reception.
We encourage you to bike to work by providing a cycle rack and a shower.
You can use your desk from 9.30 to 4.30 Monday to Friday (except bank holidays). We only require one month’s payment in advance. Currently, the hire rate is £200 (plus VAT) a month, which works out at just over £10.00 a day. If you would like to take advantage of our paid-for services such as photocopying, scanning and mail franking, we ask for a small refundable deposit of £50. You can use our prestigious Southgate Chambers address as your mailing address and we will receive your post and parcel deliveries, if you add a Virtual Office to your package.
Today a desk in a shared office space: tomorrow world domination! (This is not guaranteed. Other factors may apply that could prevent world domination.)
